Zielinski&Rozen made perfumes and cosmetics in Russia, sold to Ukraine: an outstanding achievement

After Russia attacked Ukraine in February 2022, many companies declared their exit from the Russian market. For some of them, it was a life-and-death decision as they relied heavily on the trade. For others, it wasn’t so hard. To be honest, leaving the market is a doubtful punishment: other brands, including local ones, will take their niche. But most companies are imitating the exit, leaving their brands to proxies. Some companies are back in full scale, some are known by other names. Willing or not, Russian supermarkets are stuffed full with any goods you want.

The only losers are the brands that left. Perhaps this is the thinking behind the management of Zielinski & Rozen Perfumerie. The company is actively present in the Russian cosmetics and perfume market. Moreover, it maintains a production line there. Additionally, Zielinski & Rozen managed to supply Russian-made goods to Ukraine.

Anton Odaryuk, pointed out on his personal Facebook page that Zielinski & Rozen Perfumerie is manufactured in Russia:

“The girls at the points of sale [in Kyiv elite shopping centre] hesitantly said that there was only repackaging in Russia, and production was exclusively in Israel… This cosmetics was everywhere in restaurants, in restrooms. So, if you see this Russian cosmetics in establishments, inform the administrator.”

He also emphasized that the company is now “cleaning up” issues and comments about production in Russia on its page and is placing flags in stores as a sign of Ukrainian-Israeli friendship.

On the website of the mentioned manufacturer “Bentus Laboratory,” we did not find evidence of cooperation with Zielinski & Rozen. The registry of declarations of conformity to the technical regulations of the customs union of Russia currently incorrectly shows information.

However, an aggregator site (not the primary source) confirms the existence of a declaration from LLC “ZELINSKIY AND ROZEN PERFUMERY,” where the manufacturer is indicated as LLC “BENTUS LABORATORIES.” There are fewer and fewer doubts that in fact it is made in Russia, Anton Odaryuk wrote.

Repacking tricks
Repacking tricks. The image quality is low, but upon closer inspection, one can see the words “Russia” and “Moscow” after the word “manufacturer.” The goods are made before a war and it serves as a weak excuse for the labelling tricks Zielinski & Rozen done.

In his comment, Anton Odaryuk also showed how the manufacturer covers the label indicating Russian origin.

The Ukrainian version of the Zielinski & Rozen Perfumerie website is currently not working. On the Russian version, the products are available for order.
