The UK Government has banned the Islamic Research Foundation International (IRFI) from the UK. Research showed that the Islamic charity financed TV programs that incite hatred, violence and murder against ex-Muslims, Jews and gays, among others.
IRFI was removed from the Charity Register earlier this month. The British government had started an investigation against IFRI in 2020, which pumped millions into the Peace TV network. Ironically, Peace TV defended the execution of ex-Muslims, called Jews ‘a cursed’ race, invited a Jamaican Salafist preacher who also spreads conspiracy theories about 9/11, and promoted homophobia.
The National Secular Society (NSS), an atheist British organization promoting secularism, has raised concerns about IFRI since 2018. NSS calls the decision by the British government “a victory over Islamist extremism.”
An organization like IRFI, which promotes such extreme hatred and violence, should never have been admitted to the charity registry in the first place and should never have benefited from all the tax benefits given to charities.
Last year, the NSS made a report to the UK Charity Commission about two other Islamic charities, after pro-Taliban messages and anti-Semitic sermons were found on one of the charities’ websites.
