Dark Web Playbook, continued: Soft2Bet falls into the trap of DMCA abuse

We’ve known it! Soft2Bet will attempt to silence the article ‘Soft2Bet and Uri Poliavich operate by the Dark Web playbook: copyright fraud and makeshift casinos as a service‘ by claiming DMCA abuse against Talk-Finance. We were right about it: Google has approved their fake claim and deleted our article from the index. That was our plan in fact.

Now everyone will get not only my word, but solid proofs that Soft2Bet and Uri Poliavich deploy dirty tactics against any critical materials on the Internet.

Here is the claim they submitted to Google:

Soft2Bet claim.

Let’s look at who pretends to be the author of our article. For now, the full notice isn’t available; the Lumen notice will be published in a day or two, but we already see the URL they claim to be original: https://baiersiegmand.blogspot.com/2023/05/uri-poliavich.html

We clearly see the backdating technique that was used by the scammer. Here is how it is done:

  1. There are marketplaces on the Dark Web where you may purchase derelict spam blogs based on Blogspot or similar services. They are extremely cheap.
  2. Then, the Soft2Bet scammer edits an old post and puts a copy of our article in it.
  3. After that, the fraudster files a DMCA complaint against the original.
  4. Optionally, when DMCA claim gets approved, the scammer deletes the blog.
It’s deleted.

Will it work? It will. The DMCA compliance team at Google isn’t the brightest part of the tech giant. I suppose Google outsources it to some distant shores and pays the staff miserable salaries. Anyway, DMCA fraudsters flourish within Google. They can take virtually any article down, and they typically charge 30-100 GBP for it.

Soft2Bet employs such a specialist and, God, he is a busy one! There is plenty to wipe off the net which is critical to the Soft2Bet scamming empire and Uri Poliavich as a leader.

For example, Soft2Bet took down the AIN.UA article:

Fake DMCA was posted to Google.

And impersonated Cyberpolice:

This one impersonates Cyberpolice of Ukraine.

Will Soft2Bet try to take down the article you are reading now? Absolutely. I’ll keep you updated.
