British pound gets support from Brexit deal prospects

The British pound was getting more and more strenght from Thursday morning because a Brexit deal after lengthy negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union seems very close.

The British currency became 1 percent more expensive compared to the euro around 10.00 (Dutch time). For one euro £0.809 was laid down, with a Brexit deal, the fear of a turbulent departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union at the beginning of the New Year has been allayed.

Just before Christmas, all the signals look green for a Brexit chord. In particular, agreements on fishing and the regulation of competitiveness have long been the subject of heated discussions.
