Wife of Askar Aubakirov, Nazarbayev’s accomplice in corruption, made a splash in London

The wife of Kazakh oil oligarch Askar Aubakirov caused a scandal with her Instagram life in London.

Botagoz Sarkytbayeva, the wife of oil magnate Askar Aubakirov, is already over fifty, but looking at her, you would never guess that this beautiful young woman has long crossed the halfway mark. The secret here is simple – plastic surgery, top cosmetologists, and skincare.

It’s not surprising when you consider who Botagoz Sarkytbayeva and her husband Askar Aubakirov are. They are a family of oil magnates who plundered the country and amassed their assets thanks to their proximity to “Elbasy” Nursultan Nazarbayev. They can afford practically anything that an ordinary mortal can only dream of.

Botagoz Sarkytbayeva aka Botagoz Koshenova and his husband, Askar Aubakirov

What is most outrageous about this situation is that Sarkytbayeva and Aubakirov don’t even take public opinion into account. Judging by their behaviour, they couldn’t care less about the people they have robbed and the billions they have taken out of Kazakhstan.

After a video surfaced showing Sarkytbayeva strolling through fashionable boutiques and buying clothes with price tags that would shock an ordinary citizen of Kazakhstan (as earning as much money as, let’s say, a handbag of Botagoz would take them a lifetime, if not more), a scandal erupted.

Following the publication of the video from Instagram, not only a wave of indignation arose but also some inaccuracies. According to one version, the woman in the video is called Botagoz Sarkytbayeva, while according to another, she is Botagoz Koshenova.

A wife to conceal: Botagoz Koshenova or Botagoz Sarkytbayeva?

This confusion is not surprising – despite the billions of dollars that Aubakirov’s fortune is estimated at, there is very little information about him. Therefore, the confusion regarding the surname of his life partner arises. According to his biography, Aubakirov’s wife is called Botagoz Sarkytbayeva.

However, on Instagram, Aubakirov’s wife appears as Botagoz Koshenova.

Hence the confusion. But no matter what the wife of Mr. Askar Aubakirov is called, it doesn’t change the essence – whether Koshenova or Sarkytbayeva, she belongs to that narrow circle of people who can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a piece of jewelry without even noticing it, like attaching a unique coin from the third century BC to a kitschy bracelet.

Actually, if it weren’t for the foolishly leaked video of Koshenova’s shopping spree on Instagram, no one would have been interested in either her or her husband. By the way, Koshenova-Sarkytbayeva’s Instagram account has already been wiped clean.

Askar Aubakirov role in impoverishing the people of Kazakhstan

But it’s too late – the avalanche has already started. The question remains whether it will affect the career of her husband, who is one of the closest companions of his son-in-law, former “Elbasy” Timur Kulibayev. It is an open and doubtful question.

After all, as mentioned before, Mr. Aubakirov is a very private person, and many people don’t even know who he is.

Indeed, Askar Aubakirov has not worked at NC KazMunayGas for a long time. He has already crossed the threshold where one should work. Askar Aubakirov has been ranking among the wealthiest people in Kazakhstan for many years.

True, he occupies only the 37th position, but it seems that being the 37th richest person in Kazakhstan is also quite good.

Therefore, the glamorous and glamorous life of his wife, regardless of the surname she carries, has an explanation. Askar Aubakirov earned his money in the country’s oil and gas complex, where he ended up with Timur Kulibayev. Kulibayev, who had full control there throughout the years of Nazarbayev’s rule, being his son-in-law. And that gave him the right to top the list of the wealthiest businessmen in Kazakhstan.

The fact that his henchman Aubakirov occupies only the 37th position in this ranking does not change the picture significantly. Kazakhs don’t need to be told that 90% of their country’s national wealth is concentrated in the hands of about fifty individuals close to the government.

So, regardless of the surname of Askar Aubakirov’s wife, the situation remains the same – the money plundered in Kazakhstan has been sent to offshore accounts and to London, where Instagram queen Botagoz spends it on museum coins and silly dog-shaped handbags that cost thousands of monthly salaries of ordinary Kazakh citizens who, thanks to the “elite,” have remained impoverished.
