David Cameron urges Israel to punish ‘extremist settlers’

Foreign Minister David Cameron’s statement on Thursday. Cameron urged Israel to take stronger measures against “extremist settlers.” The United States had already implemented a similar mesures earlier this month.

The U.S. has consistently called on Israel to address the violence carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, particularly in the West Bank and other areas occupied by Israel since 1967. The frequency of violence has escalated following a Hamas attack on October 7, prompting increased actions by the Israeli army in the region.

Jewish settlers reside in settlements deemed illegal under international law, with many of them holding foreign passports. Numerous British and Americans have settled in these colonies.

Before October 7, UN figures reported an average of three attacks by settlers on Palestinians per day. After that date, the average increased to seven attacks per day.
