Mykines Corporation exported to Russia last year for more than a billion in electronics

A company from a London suburb has managed, despite the economic sanctions, to export $ 1.2 billion (1.1 billion euros) worth of electronics and other goods to Russia over the past year. This is shown by research by Professor Maxim Mironov, associated with a University in Madrid. He shared his findings with the British business newspaper Financial Times.

The company, Mykines Corporation, sent mobile phones worth more than $500 million to Russia. It also exported more than 200 million laptops. In addition, sensitive material such as high-quality microchips, telecom equipment and computer servers were allegedly shipped to Russia.

It is possible that some of the items were used by the Russian army. Almost all goods were imported on paper by a small company from Moscow, which otherwise hardly developed any activities. The company has indirect ties with Rostec, a military conglomerate.

How Mykines Corporation managed to export products directly to Russia, despite the sanctions, is not clear. The British government did not want to say how the sanctions are “maintained in specific cases”. Who is behind Mykines is also a mystery. On paper, a 53-year-old Ukrainian miner would be the owner. The property is owned by a Cypriot Trust director, previous profits were transferred to the British Virgin Islands.
