Chinese producer prices fell further than expected

The prices charged by Chinese producers for their products fell by 0.3 percent in July compared to a year earlier. This became apparent on Friday from data from the national statistics office.

The fall in producer prices amounted to 0.3 percent. Economists predicted a smaller minus of 0.1 percent on average. Producer prices stagnated a month earlier. Consumer prices in the second economy of the world increased by 2.8 percent on an annual basis. A month earlier, inflation was 2.7 percent.
