Britons spent 10.7 percent more on living expenses in November than in the same month a year earlier. This keeps UK inflation at a historically high level, although the pain was somewhat less severe than in October. According to UK Finance minister Jeremy Hunt, this calls for firm measures.
In October, inflation in the United Kingdom reached 11.1 percent, the highest level in 41 years. Following the publication of the figures by Statistics Netherlands on Wednesday, Minister Hunt immediately warned us that firm action is needed to tackle high inflation.
“I know these are difficult times for many, but it is vital that we take firm decisions now to reduce inflation,” Hunt said. He called inflation”the biggest enemy that makes everyone poorer.”
“If we make the wrong choices now, the prices will remain high and millions of people will feel the pain even longer.”
