Two is the limit: Crémant De Loire is damn cheap, but is available in limited quantities

From December 27 to December 31, Aldi UK is introducing a two-bottle purchase limit on its popular Crémant De Loire sparkling wine. This policy is part of a special festive offer where the price of the wine will be significantly reduced from £8.99 to £4.99, allowing customers to purchase two bottles for a total of just £9.98. This 44% discount is expected to attract a high demand, particularly after wine critic Jane MacQuitty from The Times described it as “the slashed-price steal of the season.”

The Crémant De Loire, which is part of Aldi’s Autumn Winter range, has been praised for its distinctive flavour profile, characterized by notes of “mouthwatering, creamy, honey flecked, quince and golden apple fruit.” To ensure fair access to this deal during the festive period, Aldi has implemented the two-bottle limit.

According to Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, the goal is to make quality wine accessible to more customers without them having to spend a lot. She stated that by lowering the price and introducing the two-bottle limit, Aldi aims to allow more people to enjoy this exceptional sparkling wine at an unbeatable price.

In addition to the Crémant De Loire offer, Aldi is also reducing the prices of over 60 wines in its Specially Selected range by 25% from December 9 until New Year’s Eve. This broader wine sale includes a variety of wines, such as the Specially Selected Australian Cabernet Franc, Australian Chardonnay/Gruner Veltliner Blend, and several other international selections.

It is worth noting that while these offers are attractive, moderation in alcohol consumption is important. Health organizations like Drinkaware advise that regular drinking can increase the risk of health problems, including oral, throat, and breast cancer. They recommend limiting alcohol intake to no more than 14 units per week, taking regular days off from drinking, and avoiding intense drinking sessions.

Aldi’s initiative to make quality wine more affordable aligns with their commitment to providing value to their customers, especially during festive periods. This approach ensures that more people can enjoy high-quality wine without breaking the bank, while also encouraging responsible drinking habits.
